HOW MOLD GROWS

When a mildew spore settles on a dampish nutrient supply and the wetness conditions are appropriate, it will start to grow and multiply. This growth can appear as a circular spot. Because it grows in such an environment it is referred to as a fungus, that is created from vegetative filaments of the mildew referred to as hyphae.

The hyphae can change to make a mat and similar to a plant, it will simultaneously penetrate down into the surface fabric substrate it is growing on. The microscopic spores eventually grow on the hyphae tops. These spores along with a spread of chemicals that the spores produce after nutrient digestion are freed into the air.

In suitable conditions mildew will complete its cycle of growth in as very little as 24-48 hours. This length of time is due to the mycelial stage. Once spores are developed, the mildew will enter the second stage of life referred to as the dormant stage. Mildew will stay during this stage for a very long time.

Each colony of mildew can reproduce and produce voluminous new spores therefore the method is continued. You’ll realize mildew in many various shapes, sizes and colours. These variations are based on the type of mildew species , the nutrient supply and therefore the conditions in which it is formed.

Moisture forms the key ingredient necessary for the growth of mildew. Remember, mildew spores are found in every place and in contrast to alternative plant forms, mildew can grow in the dark with no light needed. Mildew flourish in dark and damp places such as within wall cavities, attics, ceilings, floors, basements or crawl areas, cupboards, closets, showers and wherever you may usually realize indoor mildew.
